**The Opportunity with McKinstry**

We are adding a **Building Performance Analyst** with 5+ years of experience to our growing Zero+ Planning group in Golden, CO.

Position responsibilities include: 

_Technical_

+ Analyze and report on existing building energy performance; includes benchmarking, weather regression and other forms of savings tracking.
+ Analyze utility usage patterns of facilities to establish a baseline and track reductions due to the implementation of decarbonization measures.
+ Work with multi-disciplinary project teams (architects, MEP engineers, general contractors, etc.) on new construction projects to establish project goals and help the team in achieving those goals.

Work across the typical new construction design process (i.e. Concept Design to Construction Administration) to deliver on project goals.
+ Work with owners (see examples of clients below) of existing building portfolios to establish decarbonization goals and establish pathways to achieving goals.
+ Understand systems that impact building energy usage and carbon emissions, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, renewables, and architectural.

This is at the building, portfolio, and district level.
+ Develop energy efficiency and carbon reduction measures at the building, portfolio, and district level.

Assist internal mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design teams in scoping measures.
+ Perform whole building energy modeling via software such as IES VE for new construction and existing buildings.

Maintain energy models across the life of a project.
+ Perform detailed building-level and district-level energy calculations using hourly spreadsheets and data analysis tools.
+ Rank and prioritize decarbonization measures for owners and project teams, understanding their priorities and existing conditions.

Provide input on the impacts of different decarbonization strategies and/or design changes.
+ Identify process improvement opportunities and develops innovative workflows to streamline modeling and analysis processes.
+ Carefully review own work and work delegated to others.

Possess a fully developed “sense” for when something doesn’t seem right and initiate outreach for support and guidance.

_Documentation_ _  _

+ Communicate complex technical topics for non-technical audiences via graphical reporting and dynamic data visualization tools.
+ Develop long-term decarbonization roadmaps for building, portfolio, and campus Owners to identify paths towards achieving their long-term decarbonization goals.


+ Develop compliance documentation for whole building energy modeling (e.g.Local Energy Code, LEED, Living Building Challenge, etc.).

_Coordination and Communication_

+ Work directly with clients, and sometimes lead discussions with the client, throughout the life of the project.

This includes regular meetings, milestone presentations, and general coordination.
+ Coordinate across various internal groups at McKinstry, such as Technical Services, Energy, EcoDistricts, Renewables and Electric Vehicles.
+ Work with construction, cost estimating, and design teams to establish pricing for decarbonization measures.
+ Assist McKinstry’s implementation/construction side in implementing decarbonization strategies.
+ Develop relationships with internal and external clients to gather information and build trust.
+ Create project work plans for large tasks or small projects to match effort to project scope and fees.
+ Network and engage with local professional societies, seek opportunities to present work at conferences.

_Clients-We work with a broad range of clients, including:_

+ External Clients – Universities, local governments, private developers, private owners with multiple buildings/venues across the country, architects.
+ Internal McKinstry Partners – Energy and Technical Services,EcoDistricts, Design Build New Construction.

**What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry**

+ BA/BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or equivalent field of study or equivalent work experience required.
+ Five (5) years of experience in engineering design or related field is preferred.
+ BEMP or other professional credentials (e.g., LEED-AP, WELL-AP, LFA, CEM, CPHC, etc.) preferred.
+ EIT or PE credential preferred.
+ Proficiency in interpersonal verbal and written communication (especially technical writing) required.
+ Experience with whole building energy modeling software such as IES VE or EnergyPlus required.
+ Intermediate knowledge of Excel, including use of Pivot Tables and/or Macros required.
+ Experience with graphic design software such as InDesign preferred.
+ Some data analysis and/or experience with Python preferred.
+ Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau and PowerBI preferred.
+ Experience in evaluating construction drawings required.
+ Some construction or engineering-related work experience preferred.

_The pay range for this position is $36.26 - $56.83 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
