Business Development Manager

Job description

Business Development Manager

Location: Phoenix, AZ or Dallas, TX (with 40–50 % travel)

About the Company

Our client is a U.S.–based innovator that engineers high-reliability electronic materials used in mission-critical defense and aerospace platforms.

Backed by a global parent organization and fresh strategic investment, the company is scaling its footprint across North America and needs a proven rainmaker to capture new programs and shape long-term growth.

The Impact You’ll Make

As the Business Development Manager, you will own the go-to-market plan for defense and aerospace customers, translating complex mission requirements into winning design-wins and multi-year production awards.

You will report directly to an executive sales leader, steer a healthy pipeline (>$15 M) through the FAR/DFARS cycle, and influence next-gen product road-maps with real-time market feedback.

What You’ll Do

• Map, qualify, and penetrate prime contractors, tier-one suppliers, and government labs from first call through contract signature.

• Build integrated account plans, set 30/60/90-day milestones, and track KPIs in a modern CRM.

• Explain the thermal and reliability advantages of metal-based circuit substrates to engineering and procurement stakeholders alike.

• Drive compliant RFIs/RFPs, price-to-win analysis, and gate reviews that out-maneuver competitors.

• Monitor threats, emerging standards, and adjacent applications (e.g., power electronics, commercial radar) to stay ahead of industry shifts.

• Liaise with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and finance teams to ensure flawless program launch and customer satisfaction.

• Attend key trade shows and industry events, elevating corporate visibility and generating fresh leads.

What You’ll Bring

• 5–7 years of quota-carrying success selling PCBs, PCBA, thermal materials, or related electronic components into defense or aerospace accounts.

• Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS and the full government acquisition life-cycle.

• Existing network inside major primes or tier-ones; ability to engage at engineering-lead and program-management levels.

• Technical credibility—whether earned through an engineering degree (EE/ME preferred) or deep application experience—allowing you to translate specs into solutions.

• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and a modern CRM platform; disciplined pipeline hygiene.

• S.

citizenship with the ability to obtain / maintain a security clearance.

Nice-to-Have Extras

• Prior success introducing advanced thermal-management technologies into high-power or high-reliability electronics.

• Experience closing multi-million-dollar, multi-year production contracts.

• Familiarity with space-rated hardware qualification requirements.

What’s in It for You

• Competitive pay plus performance incentive.

• Direct access to executive leadership and meaningful influence on corporate strategy.

• Join a business at an inflection point with resources to invest in new markets, people, and technology.

• Home-office set-up with travel concentrated on customer engagement and industry events.
