The Department of Anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences, University of Miami, invites applications for a faculty position in anthropological linguistics to begin August 15, 2026.
The rank of the appointment is tenure-track assistant professor to tenure-eligible associate professor, as appropriate.
We seek a research-driven anthropologist with a demonstrated record of or the potential for external funding that leads to peer-reviewed publications.
We encourage applicants who will advance our departmental commitment to interdisciplinarity and a four-field approach.
Geographical, theoretical, and research specialty areas are open with preference given to a candidate who applies advanced visualization modelling and data analytical methods, as well as an applicant who can teach introductory and upper-level courses in sociolinguistics.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate how they can contribute to the university's growing interests in data science and AI, and their qualifications will demonstrate an active program of high-impact research coupled with excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.
A Ph.D. degree in Anthropology or a related field is required by the start date of the appointment.
