**CBA - Avionics Technician (F-18) – CBA Armstrong, Edwards AFB, CA**

**Job Description** :

Troubleshoots, repairs and services aircraft avionics and electrical systems.

Conducts diagnosis of malfunctions.

Performs maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft systems and equipment in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations.

Maintains FAA required records, manuals and inspection forms.

Must be able to independently troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions on all aircraft systems and components.

Must be able to perform organizational, expert level maintenance to include inspection, operational test, repair, modification and troubleshooting on all assigned aircraft, components and equipment.

Applies superior technical knowledge to solve complex problems and to provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction to other employees as needed.

Possess a superior degree of expertise of aircraft systems.

Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions and special tools and test equipment.

Must be highly skilled in operational capabilities and limitations of aircraft systems.

**Duties and Responsibilities** :

+ Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, technical directives, planning documents, test specifications, technical publications and procedures and applicable safety manuals and explain to others.
+ Must be able to work in the established work/living environment, work shift schedules and support mission requirements.
+ Must be customer oriented
+ Must have exceptional working knowledge of aircraft safety directives.
+ Must have an in-depth knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations.
+ Must have extensive knowledge of aircraft technical publications and be able to identify errors, recommend changes to technical orders and drawings.
+ Must have in depth knowledge (input and extract data) of maintenance database technology.
+ Must be able to understand and be able to navigate NAMIS and NASA work order systems.
+ Must perform operational checks, system adjustments and troubleshooting of RADAR, communications, electronics and navigation systems as required without supervision.
+ Must coordinate and communicate with maintenance supervision, customer and multiple affiliate agencies to establish work priorities and schedules as required.
+ Must be able to communicate and work well with coworkers, customers and other contract personnel.
+ Must possess superior knowledge of the following independent systems: Avionics, Instrumentation and electrical systems.
+ Must be able to work shifts as assigned and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team if required.
+ Must be a self-starter capable of completing all work assigned without supervision
+ Must hold a Secret Security Clearance or higher and be able to maintain it for the life of employment.
+ Must be willing to train Technician I and II employees.
+ Must be capable of leading others when supervision is not available.

+ High School Degree or GED - required
+ Valid State Driver’s License - required
+ Valid U.S. Passport – ability to obtain
+ Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
+ Must have knowledge in use of technical publications.
+ Must be capable of working in confined spaces.
+ Must be able to work in the established work/living environment to include shifts as assigned, travel as part of an installation team and support CONUS and OCONUS deployments as required.
+ Must be able to efficiently and effectively interface with Lead Avionics Technician and System Engineers.
+ Must have well developed avionics and instrumentation troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

**Requirements** :

+ Minimum 10 years of avionics / instrumentation experience - required
+ Minimum 5 years experience on aircraft currently assigned to.

+ Experience should include, but is not limited to, F-15, F/A-18, King Air B200, Gulfstream GIII, T-34, and TG-14 - required
+ Ability to travel up to 25%
+ Valid US Passport - must able to obtain if no current passport
+ Clearance: Must possess be able to maintain a US Secret Security Clearance.
+ FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate – preferred

**Qualifications** : **Physical Demands** :
This maintenance classification activity is usually accomplished in a flight line-like environment with extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching and walking demands.

May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds.

Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close and peripheral vision, and acceptable depth perception.

**Work Environment** :
The diversity of working conditions range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc.

May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards exist.
