We are seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our team.




The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) will be responsible for ensuring that all welding activities meet industry standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.

This role involves inspecting welds, reviewing documentation, and working closely with welders, engineers, and project managers to maintain the highest quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of welds and welded components.

  • Verify compliance with welding codes (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME, API) and project specifications.

  • Review and interpret welding procedures, blueprints, and technical drawings.

  • Monitor welding processes and ensure proper techniques and materials are used.

  • Document inspection results, generate reports, and maintain accurate records.

  • Identify and report non-conformities and recommend corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with quality control, engineering, and production teams.

  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality assurance standards.


Requirements


Qualifications:



  • Certification: AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) – Required.

  • Experience: Minimum two (2) years of experience in welding inspection or related field.

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical training or associate degree preferred.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of welding codes, metallurgy, and NDT methods.

  • Skills: Excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • Tools: Proficient with inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, weld gauges).


 



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Civil/structural construction inspection experience 

  • Experience with NDT techniques (UT, RT, MT, PT).

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.

  • Background in structural steel, pipelines, or pressure vessels.


Working Conditions:


Field and shop environments; may involve climbing, lifting, safe entry into confined space, and exposure to heat or noise.

Travel may be required depending on project location.
