Clerk Typist, Campus Recreation



Job description

The Clerk Typist is a member of the Division of Student Life, and reports to the Director of Campus Recreation.

The purpose of the position is to oversee the day-to-day clerical, financial, and human resources support of the department.

The position supports departmental areas of aquatics, facilities, fitness/wellness, intramural sports, marketing, member services, safety, sport clubs, special events, and student development.



Financial/Business Services (40%)
+ Responsible for all purchases and invoices for Campus Recreation and Fitness Center operational budget
+ Thorough knowledge of university purchasing, accounting/audit guidelines, and banner system
+ Responsible for accurate, efficient and timely recording, processing, and tracking of purchase requisitions and invoices
+ Daily accounting and reconciliation of all financial transactions (cash, debit, credit and check payments) generated within the department- totally approximately $800,000/year
+ Thorough knowledge of Innosoft Fusion front desk point of sale software management system



Human Resources/Payroll (30%)
+ Process student and part-time hourly payroll according to university policies and within established deadlines
+ Cross reference employee scheduling software entries with Banner student timesheets and troubleshooting any discrepancies



Clerical Functions (20%)
+ Provide overall clerical functions and assist department with daily operational and service initiatives
+ Perform clerical and administrative functions for the office and departmental director
+ Communicate customer and administrative issues to appropriate personnel
+ Maintain adequate file system for important departmental documents
+ Knowledge of and ability to utilize software (Banner, FUSION, On Base, SubItUp) for various tasks and functions



Customer Service (10%)
+ Provide outstanding, responsive and timely customer service and assistance to all student and non-student members
+ Provide oversight and assistance to front desk operations as needed



Knowledge and Abilities
+ Capable of handling multiple demands in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining flexibility and adaptability
+ Exceptional relationship-building skills
+ Superior time management skills, excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail
+ Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
+ Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively within and across departments
+ Work under general direction, however, able to prioritize work and organize own time utilizing independent judgment
+ Demonstrate ability to make competent decisions
+ Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Outlook, Adobe PDF and Acrobat Pro

Salary & Benefits:


+ In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is CWA: Range 09 ($39,681 to $42,990), with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.



+ For eligible employees, benefits include: comprehensive NJ State health, dental and retirement benefits, extensive accrued time off/paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement for employee, spouse, and dependents to attend Rowan University, Glassboro.

(Tuition reimbursement will apply to undergraduate degrees only for spouse and dependents).
