JOB SUMMARY:

The department of Health and Sport Sciences is currently seeking a Clinical Assistant Professor in Exercise Science for a full-time position starting in the fall of 2026.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Teach courses in Exercise Science.
+ Advise and mentor students.
+ Service to the university and the profession.
+ Clinical supervision of the Adult Fitness/Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and program development.
+ Potential courses would include: Exercise Physiology; Applied Physiology in Physical Education; Exercise Testing and Prescription; Cardiac Rehabilitation; Clinical Aspects of Work Physiology.




QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Master’s degree or higher in Exercise Science, or a closely related field.
+ An established record of clinical and laboratory experience.
+ Excellence in written/oral communication skills.
+ NSCA CSCS or ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist is desired, but not required.
+ Previous experience teaching college-level coursework is preferred.
+ Knowledge of energy metabolism and the practical application of principles of Exercise Science are important.
+ Interest in online learning and integration of technology into teaching is encouraged.
+ Academic experiences with culturally diverse populations are sought.

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $78,000 - $80,000.

Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.
