We are looking for a **Cloud Architect** with strong Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to work across a multi-cloud environment delivering existing and new cloud offerings for a program that delivers applications and solutions across multiple classification levels and mission areas.

**HOW OUR CLOUD ARCHITECT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:**

+ Design and support secure, scalable, and compliant multi-cloud architectures, across AWS, Azure, and GCP, aligned with Department of Defense (DoD) mission requirements and cloud security best practices.
+ Provides technical leadership and solution development aligned with cloud service offerings and mission/business objectives.
+ Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into secure, efficient, and mission aligned technical solutions, maintaining awareness of evolving DoD cloud policies.
+ Design and develop resilient, cloud-native solutions including front-end components, back-end services, and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to create cohesive applications using modern cloud technologies.
+ Implement DevOps practices, including automated continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, infrastructure provisioning, and configuration management using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, and Azure DevOps.
+ Develop and execute automated and manual test plans to validate cloud-native solutions for functionality, performance, security, and compliance with DoD environments.
+ Document solution architectures, testing protocols, and production support procedures to ensure consistent knowledge transfer and maintain operational continuity.
+ Establish and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging to support operational stability, incident response, and continuous improvement in accordance with DoD/DISA standards.
+ Apply cloud governance frameworks including tagging standards, resource lifecycle management, access controls, and policy enforcement across multiple cloud environments.
+ Design cloud architectures in alignment with Zero Trust Architectures (ZTA) principles, including least privilege access, identity-based segmentation, and continuous monitoring across multi-cloud environments.
+ Support Financial Operations (FinOps) initiatives to optimize cloud spend, improve cost visibility, and support budget accountability within DoD financial environments.
+ Ensure architectural decisions and operational practices support DoD compliance objectives, with a working understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF) and the Authority to Operate (ATO) process.
+ Contribute to secure cloud provisioning and system hardening efforts using infrastructure-as-code (IaC), aligned with DISA STIGs and IL4–IL6 environments.
+ Partner with cross-functional teams to interpret change requirements, provide technical expertise, and guide implementation in alignment with mission and business goals.
+ Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement to enhance solution performance, security, and cost efficiency.

**WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:**

+ **Security Clearance Requirement:** Active Secret clearance
+ **Required Technical Skills and Qualifications:**
+ 10 years of experience architecting and deploying solutions across multiple public cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
+ Strong understanding of cloud governance frameworks, tagging strategies, IAM, and cloud resource provisioning policies.
+ Experience implementing FinOps practices, cloud cost modeling, and usage optimization strategies within a government funding or chargeback model.
+ Working knowledge of RMF and ATO processes, including required documentation and lifecycle phases (SSP, POA&M, etc.).
+ Familiarity with DISA STIGS, Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles, and DoD cloud security baselines.
+ Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills to interface with stakeholders across technical, security, and mission domains.
+ **Skills and Abilities:**
+ _Collaboration & Communication:_ Ability to work across diverse teams, build rapport with stakeholders, and articulate technical decisions aligned to mission outcomes.
+ _Cloud Solutioning:_ Translate complex business requirements into tested, cloud native solutions using AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms.
+ _Cloud Security & Networking:_ Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts such as VPCs, subnets, identity and access management (IAM), firewall/Web Application Firewall (WAF), and secure interconnects across hybrid or multi-cloud architectures.
+ _Infrastructure as Code (IaC):_ Proficiency with Tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates for secure, automated deployments.
+ _DevOps & Automation_ : Expertise in developing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated testing using tools such as AWS CodePipeline, Azure DevOps, or GitLab.
+ _Monitoring and Logging:_ Proficiency in cloud-native tools and services (e.g., AWS Control Tower, Azure Policy, GCP Organization Policies) and experience building dashboards, alerts, and centralized logging pipelines using tools like CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or Stackdriver.
+ _API & Serverless Computing:_ Skilled in developing scalable APIs (e.g., AWS API Gateway) and implementing serverless, event-driven architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda).
+ **Education:** Bachelors Degree in related technical discipline.
+ **Location** : Remote in the Washington DC Metro area preferred.
+ **US Citizenship Required**

+ Cloud Architect certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud Architect
+ Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines and tools (e.g., GitLab CI/CD)
+ Experience supporting DoD classified systems in IL5 or IL6 environments

The likely salary range for this position is $161,158 - $201,250.

This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.

Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
Our benefits package for all US-based employees includes a variety of medical plan options, some with Health Savings Accounts, dental plan options, a vision plan, and a 401(k) plan offering the ability to contribute both pre and post-tax dollars up to the IRS annual limits and receive a company match.

To encourage work/life balance, GDIT offers employees full flex work weeks where possible and a variety of paid time off plans, including vacation, sick and personal time, holidays, paid parental, military, bereavement and jury duty leave.

GDIT typically provides new employees with 15 days of paid leave per calendar year to be used for vacations, personal business, and illness and an additional 10 paid holidays per year.

Paid leave and paid holidays are prorated based on the employee’s date of hire.

The GDIT Paid Family Leave program provides a total of up to 160 hours of paid leave in a rolling 12 month period for eligible employees.
