The Analog Garage is our corporate R&D center with a mission to empower Analog Devices by pioneering breakthrough technologies.

The Bioelectronic Platforms Group is applying leading edge circuit design, device design, and nanoscale fabrication towards the next breakthroughs in Life Sciences platforms for the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industries.

In this role you will lead the architecture and design of silicon systems for novel Life Sciences platforms.

You will apply expertise in silicon technologies, especially analog, mixed-signal, and digital CMOS, to develop, prototype, and scale innovative sensing and actuation solutions

Responsibilities (one or more of):

  • Work with a skilled multi-disciplinary team to define system requirements
  • Develop system simulation models in MATLAB- or Python-like scientific computing environments
  • Develop and test pre-CMOS evaluation prototypes
  • Develop an overall architecture for the analog, mixed-signal, and/or digital CMOS integrated circuits
  • Collaborate with the team to design CMOS detailed circuits
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement post-CMOS fabrication and assembly requirements
  • Collaborate with biologists, biochemists, rapid prototyping, and evaluation engineers to test the system meets desired requirements
  • Conduct research in new areas of physical sciences relevant to Analog Devices technologies, identify pain-points, propose candidate solutions, develop system implementation concepts, and evaluate them with simulation and/or experiments.
  • Minimum qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (or master's/bachelor's degree with additional industrial experience)
  • Lead for one or more CMOS tapeouts, including architecture, design, physical implementation, and chip evaluation
  • Demonstrated ability to work across physical disciplines, such as biomedical, chemical, mechanical, physics, and/or electrical engineering
  • Track record of innovation, IP, and/or publications in electronic systems with post-CMOS or special assembly requirements
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a creative, persistent approach to complex technical challenges
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Nice to have

  • Experience with array/periphery CMOS architectures such as imagers or memories
  • Interest and ability to work across all layers of the design stack, from conceptualization to implementation, to evaluation, to scaling to high-volume production
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more silicon-related technology areas beyond circuit design, such as electromagnetics, optical, electrochemistry, MEMS, etc.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more computational areas, such as signal processing, optimization, AI/ML, or other algorithms topics
  • Familiarity with semiconductor cleanroom equipment and processes
  • Familiarity with semiconductor assembly and packaging technologies
  • Familiarity with one or more areas in Biological Sciences
  • Strong hands-on technical skills, but also maintains a research orientation and is interested to keep up with scientific and industrial literature

  • Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.
