Position Objective:
Operates special-purpose equipment, conventional (lathe/mill), and/or numerical control (NC) machines for fabricating metallic and nonmetallic parts that meet the high-quality machine standards required within the organization.
Essential Functions:
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to find dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
Operate CNC mill, CNC lathe, manual mill, and drill pressSet up machinery and ensure all production materials are availableOperate ForkliftStarts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine control as requiredMust be able to select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapersMust demonstrate a basic to intermediate skill level (indicate part, turn OD's, and qualify ID and OD)Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, CMM, etcDocument quality inspections as directed by SOPMaintain cleanliness of equipment and assigned areaAssist SHEQ in promoting and monitoring Safety First initiatives and goals as stated in the MR Operational Policy throughout the organizationMust be able to lift pounds, bend, stretch, and stand for extended periodsWill be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned Knowledge/Educational Requirements:
A High School Diploma or GED is required
An Associate of Arts or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in the machinist trade is a plusBasic computer skills
