CNC Machinist and Programmer

Job description

Kelly, in partnership with a growing manufacturer, is looking for a CNC Machinist/Programmer in Rome, NY.

This is a direct hire position, meaning you will be hired permanently with our client and offered their compensation and benefits upon hire.

**Details:**

+ 1 st shift opening: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
+ Pay: $25 - $36 per hour, based on experience.

**Job Description:**

+ Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and/or other machinery to manufacture parts as per design specifications.
+ Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using G-codes.
+ Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machining requirements.
+ Select appropriate tooling and fixtures for each job and ensure their correct installation.
+ Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify conformance to specifications.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve machining or programming issues quickly to minimize downtime.
+ Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines and equipment.
+ Maintain accurate manufacturing records and quality documents.
+ Collaborate closely with engineers, production, and quality teams to meet project deadlines and achieve continuous improvement.

**Qualifications:**

+ High school diploma or equivalent (technical/vocational training in machining preferred).
+ 1+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist and Programmer in a manufacturing environment.
+ Proficiency with CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Mazatrol).
+ Strong skills in CNC program creation, editing, and troubleshooting.
+ Experience with CAD/CAM software is highly desired.
+ Solid math, problem-solving, and mechanical aptitude.
+ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
