CNC Machinist (Level I, II, or Senior) Location:



  • Wamego, Kansas Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Compensation: $20.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on experience) About R-Tech Tool & Manufacturing R-Tech Tool & Manufacturing is a family-owned, precision machining and fabrication company located in the heart of the U.S.

  • Your Role as a CNC Machinist As a CNC Machinist at R-Tech, you’ll transform raw material into precision components that keep industries moving.
  • You’ll set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, perform inspections, and solve machining challenges to ensure every part meets exact specifications.
  • Whether you’re starting as an operator or stepping into senior-level responsibilities, you’ll play a direct role in delivering the accuracy and reliability our customers demand.
  • What You’ll Do Safely set up and operate CNC 3-axis and 5-axis mills, and/or 2-axis and multi-axis lathes.
  • Install fixtures, load tools, set offsets, and verify programs for production runs.
  • Inspect first-run and in-process parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and CMMs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T symbols, and engineering specifications.
  • Make minor program edits at the control (G-code, M-code) to correct dimensional issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, monitor tool life, and report equipment concerns.
  • Track run times, tooling usage, and inspections in the MRP system.
  • Suggest process improvements to reduce setup time and improve efficiency.

At senior levels:



  • mentor junior machinists and assist with complex setups/programming.

What You’ll Need Required:



  • High School diploma or GED.

    2+ years of CNC machining experience or related technical training.

  • Proficiency in shop math, fractions/decimals, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and tolerances.
  • Skilled with measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
  • Comfort working 10-hour shifts, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and safety practices.

Preferred:



  • A.A.S. in Precision Machining, CNC & Automation, or equivalent.

    3+ years of CNC machining experience with independent setup skills.

  • Experience with multi-axis CNC machines and complex part setups.
  • CAM software exposure (Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidCAM).
  • Familiarity with aerospace alloys (titanium, Inconel), stainless steels, and plastics.
  • Experience with probing, in-process inspection, or advanced quality systems.
