Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Job Duties:
Virginia Beach Housing and Neighborhood Preservation's Rental Housing division is seeking a Code Enforcement Inspector to conduct inspections of rental properties enrolled in various rental assistance programs, to ensure tenants are provided with safe, decent, and sanitary housing.
The individual selected will be responsible for conducting routine inspections of existing structures enrolled in Rental Housing programs for compliance with the Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and/or NSPIRE inspection standards.
The duties include performing new unit inspections, re-inspections, special inspections when participant complaints are received, entering inspection results into an electronic database system, preparing inspection reports and notices of violation, meeting with tenants, landlords, and property owners to identify and explain deficiencies and what corrections are necessary.
The inspector will drive a city vehicle and perform in accordance with the organization's values and core strategies.
Certification as a Housing Quality Inspector is preferred.
Must have a current and valid driver’s license in accordance with Virginia or North Carolina DMV driver’s license eligibility requirements.
