Job description

Internship Summary:

CSX is a Fortune 250 company seeking future business leaders to help foster growth, efficiency and innovation.

The selected intern will contribute over a ten-week immersion into Operations as experienced through CSX methods and culture.

This individual will complete challenging real-world assignments, working hand in hand with leaders across the company to support its strategic messages and exposure to corporate leadership.

This internship provides an opportunity for candidates to gain market experience at a dynamic, large-cap company while allowing CSX to actively recruit tomorrow’s best talent.

Internship Details:

  • This is a 10 Week Summer Internship Program starting on May 26, 2026, and ending July 31, 2026.

    (Location: CSX HQ or minimal hybrid/remote)
  • CSX provides optional intern housing for the duration of the 10-week program, as long as the selected intern meets eligibility criteria
  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Up to 10% travel for specification reviews
  • The Summer Internship Program will include:Cross-functional learning, Local Onsite Visits, Executive Networking Sessions and Lunch & Learns and more
  • Job Summary:

    Internship opportunity with the Communications & Signals Department to support the objectives and goals related to the End of Train (EOT) Units, Network Operations and Standards.

    The intern must have a passion for collaboration, teamwork, and problem-solving.

    The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior leadership.

    This program is a paid 10-week internship based in Jacksonville, FL.

    Primary Activities and Responsibilities: 

  • Support the EOT Desk with reducing the Foreign EOT Liability
  • Support the Network Operations Team with streamlining process flows
  • Support the Standards Team with documenting operational procedures 
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
  • Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4.0-point scale) 
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program from an accredited institution
  • Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership/executive audiences
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to independently manage assignments
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build working relationships at all levels of an organization
  • Job Requirements: 

  • Work hours may vary in length
  • Must be currently attending and enrolled in an accredited college or university (per contingent worker policy)
  • Successfully complete a background check and drug test
  • Environmental Conditions: 

  • Work in an office environment
  • Less than 5% Travel
