This is an Application Engineer role for Circuit Protection & Controls (CP&C).

It is part of the Siemens Smart Infrastructure operating company, Electrical Products business unit.

This position is a key technical resource within EP CP&C, reports directly to the head of Application Engineering.

This is a cross-functional role that will involve regular coordination with many departments including but not limited to Business Segment Heads, marketing, sales, business development leaders, R&D, product management and application engineering, both with CP&C and with adjacent segments and business units.

This is an ideal role for a highly motivated, experienced technical with marketing insights in the electrical products industry, or for an individual with an engineering, automation or industrial controls background who has a strong technical aptitude and experience in articulating applications and value proposition messaging.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing applications associated with resources to grow the CP&C business.

**You will make an impact with the following responsibilities:**

+ The overall responsibility of this position is to plan, create and execute technical applications and related documentation for the CP&C segment.
+ This role will focus on pre-sales support for the controls products of the circuit protection and controls portfolio.
+ Addressing customer inquiries and resolving technical issues in a timely manner.
+ Assess customer requirements and understand their needs and value for control products.
+ Collaborate with R&D, Product Management, Technical Assistance, and Sales Engineers to bridge the gap between customer needs and product development.
+ Challenge R&D development paths and product qualification requirements to assure safety.
+ Challenge Product Management roadmap development and prioritization to align with product improvements.
+ The Applications Engineer will provide remote support, analyze returned products, and troubleshoot on customers' sites.
+ Assisting with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of control products.
+ Evaluate and document field nonconformance diagnostics to support future product/solution development needs.
+ Develop and track appropriate KPI measures of field improvements for control products using appropriate digital tools.
+ Support the creation and deployment of customers facing marketing messaging, digital content creation and deployment, tradeshow and event content planning.
+ Develop training processes for internal employees and customers.
+ Make strong contributions to market introduction, field tests, and training.
+ Participate in and lead industry standards committees in the USA and globally.
+ Support the development of technical requirement specifications for control product applications.
+ Identify and create applicable application instructions and white papers.
+ Adapt to new technologies and stay updated with industry trends and advancements in control products.

**You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:**

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or engineering management.
+ 5 plus years of experience with industrial controls products (relays, contactors, motor starters, communications devices, PLCs, Motor Controls Centers), electrical distribution products, specifically Circuit Breakers (Mini Circuit Breakers, AFCI / GFCI, MCCB, ACB), Electrical Distribution Enclosures (residential, commercial, industrial, critical power).
+ Basic PLC Ladder Logic Experience in TIA Portal, Basic Coding Language in C.
+ Understanding of electrical circuits and industrial controls technologies.
+ Strong data analysis, problem solving, and presentation skills.
+ Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (~20%).
+ Must be eligible to work in the US with no sponsorship now or in the future.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Advanced degree in engineering or engineering management with an electrical or mechanical focus.
+ 3 plus years of successful experience in product engineering and/or product management.
+ Demonstrated understanding of industrial applications and integration of automation and controls to support them.
+ Understanding of communication protocols used in control systems, such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, or Profibus.
+ Advanced experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
+ Cross Functional Experience with related functions and / or organizations.
+ Experience with SAP, Tableau, Siemens COMPAS tool, Siemens Industry Mall, SiePrice and SieSales (SaleForce.com).

The pay range for this position is $100,450 - $172,200.

The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
