General Function
Responsible for providing laboratory support for the Nursing, Practical Nursing and Nursing Assistant programs.
Characteristic Duties
Assists faculty in setting up and dismantling labs and practice activities as planned by instructors.
Maintains all necessary schedules and records for the laboratories.
Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment and submits list(s) of supplies to be ordered for Nursing, Practical Nursing and CNA programs.
Ensures that all equipment and supplies are in order and secure before leaving the laboratory.
Identifies occurrences of equipment malfunction or breakage and needs for equipment repair, replacement or addition and contacts appropriate services.
Assists the student with his/her independent practice of nursing skills as taught and evaluated by the teaching faculty.
Plans, posts and conducts weekly Nursing Guided Skill Review
Maintains Program bulletin boards
Assists Lab Coordinator with supervision of student peer tutors.
Prepares various reports and maintains various records.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Work is primarily indoors, however the employee will move around in the labs performing functions and moving and organizing light supplies.
The employee needs to tolerate extended hours on their feet and have no lifting/moving restrictions.
Equipment/Tools Used
Utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, in order to perform the duties of the job.
Familiar with equipment used in health care settings and adept at trouble-shooting and assembling such equipment.
Supervision
Under the general supervision of the Director of Interprofessional Education and Healthcare Simulation.
Works independently to complete assigned tasks.
Receives oral and written instructions as required.
Supervises students in a tutorial setting and assists faculty with skill laboratory courses.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Education: ., plus current Illinois license.
Associate of Applied Science degree from an accredited institution with a major in nursing required.
Bachelor of Science in nursing degree preferred.
Harper nursing graduate preferred.
Experience: Two years related work experience in a clinical setting.
Familiar with equipment used in healthcare settings and adept at troubleshooting and assembling such equipment.
