Description

Title: Control Systems Engineer - Test BenchKey Accountabilities: • Data Acquisition Support: Assist in the configuration and maintenance of the iTest data acquisition system for engine testing.

Work with engine CAN bus systems for effective data collection and diagnostics.
• Data Integrity: Help ensure accuracy and reliability in data collected from engine test benches.
• Data Analysis: Support the development of tools for basic data analysis and reporting to aid engineering teams.
• Software Development: Write and debug simple VCL scripts and Python programs to assist in data acquisition and processing.
• System Integration: Contribute to the integration of data acquisition systems with other IT infrastructure while learning about facility infrastructure impacts on test cell systems.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and assist in resolving issues with data acquisition hardware and software under guidance.
• Engineering Collaboration: Work with engineering teams to understand basic data requirements and provide solutions with support.
• Documentation & Training: Maintain documentation for data acquisition processes and participate in team training activities.
• Process Improvement: Identify potential improvements in data acquisition processes and contribute to implementation.
• Compliance & Safety: Follow compliance guidelines, adhere to the Rolls-Royce Global Code of Conduct, and ensure a safe work environment.
• Project Involvement: Participate in special projects as assigned.Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering and 3 years of industrial controls, electrical or mechanical engineering experience; or 7 years of industrial controls, electrical or mechanical engineering experience.
  • In order to be considered for this role, you must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident .
  • Preferred:
  • Strong understanding of controls architecture.
  • Experience in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks and projects efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Basic understanding of blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Good Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control Systems and interfaces with automation or Engine Control Units.
  • Experience working with process control equipment such as thermocouples, transducers, meters, valves, and sensors.
  • Familiarity with diesel engine testing.
  • Basic programming skills in VCL, Python, or Uniplot.
  • Understanding of Test Automation Protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, AK Protocol, CAN, MODBUS).
  • Experience with A&D iTest and SAP.
  • Exposure to database management.

  • Daily work is performed in an office and general manufacturing environments.

    This position has a traditional work schedule that requires four (4) ten (10) hour days during a Monday through Thursday work schedule, with the eligibility of overtime as business requires.

    While performing duties of this position, employees are frequently requested to work inside and occasionally required to work outside of the facility.

    While working outside, employees will occasionally endure hot, cold, and humid temperature conditions.

    The employees will frequently hear noise.

    Also, employees will occasionally work with hazardous material within the manufacturing work environment.

  • While performing physical demands of the work environments, employees will occasionally be requested to sit, climb, and maintain balance, crouch, and squat.

    Next, employees will frequently be requested to stoop and or kneel.

    Finally, employees will regularly be requested to sit and walk within the work environments.

    Employees will be occasionally requested to push, pull, carry, lift and or move materials within the work environment.

    The materials will weigh between 10-25 pounds and the employee will be occasionally requested to move materials once per week.

  • Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the employee must have the ability to adjust focus.
