Controls Engineer / Industrial HMI Developer

Location: Darien, IL area

Job Type and Duration: Direct Hire

Pay range: 85-110/k

No sponsorship or C2C, local candidates preferred.





Industrial HMI Developer II

Varied project exposure from retrofits/upgrades to green-field manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities include:


  • Working with customer project engineers and automation engineers to design and develop HMI systems for controlling automated production lines.

  • Design and development of HMI programs using Ignition, Wonderware and AB Factory talk for new systems and upgrades to existing systems.

  • Testing and simulation of HMI systems.

  • Field deployment of HMI terminals and onsite modifications to screens during commissioning and startup processes.

  • Establishing communications from HMI servers to PLC systems over networks.

  • Overnight travel is required.

    (15-20%)


Requirements to Qualify:


  • Associate technical degree or equivalent certification.




  • Applicants should have 3+ years in the following areas: HMI Development and Deployment in an industrial setting for industrial equipment with primary experience on Wonderware, Ignition and AB Factory talk SE & ME platforms.

  • Basic IT networking experience.

  • Familiarity with High Performance graphical design methodology.

    (ISA-101)




  • Able to work effectively both individually and with a team.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • A commitment to doing it right the first time.

  • A valid driver's license for travel.


Additional Preferred Skills/Abilities:


  • Ability to navigate Studio 5000 or other PLC systems written in ladder logic.

  • Programming experience in Python or SQL.

  • Ignition Certification

  • Understanding of OPC UA protocol and servers.

  • Graphic Design and/or Technical Writing experience.

  • Experience developing with Win CC or AB Factory Talk Optix.
