Position Summary:

The Coordinator of Student Involvement will serve as a member of the Department of Campus Life team and will provide leadership and direction for the functional areas of student organization management and development, Welcome Week, Ferguson Student Union programming initiatives, orientation initiatives, Four-Year Experience programming and involvement, and Homecoming Week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary contact for student organizations, providing operational guidance, event planning support, and leadership training.

Engage with students, faculty, and staff to promote new student organizations and increase faculty and staff involvement.

Develop and coordinate all programming efforts in the Ferguson Student Union, with a special focus on weekend involvement opportunities.

Plan and develop an annual Advisor Training and Involvement program to aid and encourage increased faculty and staff involvement in student organizations.

Develop and execute a Four-Year student involvement model.

Assist in the development and implementation of New Student Orientation.

Design and implement all related events and experiences for Welcome Week.

Plan and implement Homecoming Week activities and serve as the primary point of contact for all student events.

Co-advise Student Activities Board.

Provide oversight and guidance in the Steve Lawrence Involvement Center for student organization resources.

Maintain records of student involvement programming including participation data, assessment outcomes, and program evaluations.

Responsible for fiscal management of all areas of operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of functional activities within the department.

Willingness to stay abreast of trends and issues in higher education.

Knowledge of assessment practices and program evaluation methods.

Ability to supervise and provide leadership and direction to graduate assistants and student workers.

Willingness to collaborate with colleagues within the Department of Campus Life, Division of Student Affairs, and throughout campus.

Professionally represent the Division of Student Affairs in all settings, including public speaking opportunities.

Willingness to actively participate as a member of the Department of Campus Life team by engaging in discussion, giving feedback and updates, and providing creative and innovative ideas to move the Department of Campus Life and the Division of Student Affairs forward.

Ability to manage a budget.

Ability to be a team player and support division-wide initiatives within Campus Life, Student Affairs, and beyond.

Ability to manage multiple projects in multiple functional areas.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effectively relaying updates and information to supervisor in a timely manner.

Detail-oriented and the ability to prioritize.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree.

Involvement and experience with clubs and organizations at the college/university level, including participation and/or advising.

Experience in programming for students in a higher education environment

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Detail-oriented and the ability to prioritize.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in college student personnel, student affairs, or related field.

Student Organization Management software experience.

Budget management experience.

Ability to manage multiple projects.

Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:

Position is required to maintain office hours within the Department of Campus Life (Monday-Friday

After hours and response/work as necessary to administer programs and events.

On-call for emergencies and crisis situations.
