Bloomberg Businessweek magazine is looking for a freelance copy editor to join Bloomberg’s New York office.
This is a full-time contract role — 40 hours a week, across five days — supporting both our web and print editions.
As part of our copy desk, you’ll ensure every story is sharp, accurate, and engaging.
You’ll edit for grammar, clarity, consistency and style, while maintaining the distinctive Businessweek voice.
You'll also proof and fact-check.
Besides versatility, collaboration is key: You’ll work closely in a fast-paced, global newsroom with fellow copy editors as well as editors, art directors, and web producers to meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.
The role will begin fully in-person.
Once training is complete, there will be flexibility to work fewer days on-site.
You'll need to have:
At least five years of newsroom copy editing experience
Strong line editing, copy editing and proofreading skills
Comfort juggling multiple stories under tight deadlines
Familiarity with business and economics journalism
A deep commitment to accuracy and clarity
Proficiency in Google Docs and CMS (WordPress)
Experience with Adobe InCopy and the K4 publishing system a plus

Salary Range = 45 - 50 USD Hourly
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting.
Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
