Job description

Overview

Job Description:

1.

Crane Operator is responsible for operating a mobile crane to lift, move, position, and reposition loads.

The Operator will be required to unload crane accessories from trailers or support vehicles.
2.

The Operator receives direction from riggers and/or site supervision via verbal or hand signals to determine required load movement.
3.

The Operator will be required to perform pre- and post-trip inspections along with daily and monthly equipment inspections.
4.

Operators also follow appropriate safety procedures and maintain logs of vehicle repair status and working hours (FMCSA).
5.

Operator typically works under direct supervision and is expected to work long hours with frequent sitting, standing, moving, and climbing.
6.

The Operator is subject to possible exposure to extreme year-round outdoor environmental conditions and may also be subject to working weekends and holidays.
7.

This position is based in Caroline County, Virginia and candidates will need to dispatch to jobsites, travel will be an element to this position.
8.

Travel will be expected and will normally last no longer than a week.

Responsibilities:

Operates various types of cranes to lift material, objects or personnel into place; drives crane to work site and properly sets up per the manufacturer’s operators manual and company rules regarding cribbing/matting, cribbing blocks or mats as required to perform job requirements of customer.

Directs activities of oilers, truck drivers or helpers in setting up and knocking down the equipment.

May operate crane according to signals from oiler or helper may bolt, pin boom sections together to modify boom lengths.

This position is a member of a team and will require work as a ground crew depending on the task being performed.

The ideal candidate will be involved in all scopes of modular delivery.

High school diploma or GED with 1-5 years of experience.
2.

Perform routine maintenance
3.

Carry tools for running repairs
4.

Wears PPE safety equipment
5.

Properly barricades counterweight tail swing radius
6.

Take complete charge of all safety pertaining to set up and knockdown and operation of crane.
7.

Drives truck to worksites and unloads truck.
8.

Any other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Essential:

1.

Knowledgeable in OSHA Regulations and ANSI standards in crane operations
2.

Must be able to read and speak the English language
3.

Possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent with one to five years of experience.
4.

Must be able to pass a drug test andbackground check.

Desired:

1.

Prefer candidates with proficient oral and written communication skills, technical skills, and functional skills
2.

Prefer candidates with a CDL Class A license, NCCCO, TSS, TLL, (LBC would be helpful but not required)

Abilities

1.

Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
2.

Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
3.

Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
4.

Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
5.

May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
6.

Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.

It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
7.

Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
8.

Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
9.

See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
10.

Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
