Job Title: Data Analyst I

Location: 1 DNA Way, South San Francisco, CA 94080

Duration: 12-Month Contract (Potential for Extension or Permanent Hire)

Pay Rate: $31.64 – $66.13/hour

About the Opportunity

The Digital Strategy & Products (DS&P) team is seeking a curious and motivated Entry-Level Data Analyst to join our dynamic environment.

This role is ideal for an early-career professional passionate about uncovering insights from data, solving analytical challenges, and growing technical expertise.

You’ll work with diverse datasets to drive smarter business decisions and contribute to impactful analytics initiatives across the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

1.

Data Quality & Governance


  • Support data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across multiple systems.

  • Maintain adherence to data governance standards and manage access to sensitive data.


2.

Data Analysis & Modeling



  • Analyze a wide range of data sources (survey, sensor, attendance metrics, etc.) to identify trends and insights.

  • Perform Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) and feature engineering to prepare datasets for advanced analytics.

  • Contribute to the design and validation of predictive models using statistical and machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, classification).

  • Develop and execute SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation.

  • Apply new analytical methods to enhance model accuracy and insights.

  • Use Git/GitHub for version control and collaborative coding.


3.

Reporting & Communication



  • Build reports and data visualizations to communicate insights effectively to stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards using Tableau, R Shiny, ThoughtSpot, or Google Suite tools.

  • Present analytical findings and recommendations to internal and external audiences.


 

Qualifications

Core Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Psychology, or a related analytical field; or 1+ years of experience in an analytical role.

  • Self-motivated learner with strong initiative and attention to detail.

  • Excellent organizational and communication (verbal/written) skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace tools.

  • Basic understanding of data analytics concepts and data quality principles.


 

Preferred Skills


  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline.

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing complex datasets to extract insights.

  • Programming skills in Python or R for data analysis.

  • Experience developing dashboards in Tableau or ThoughtSpot.

  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms (e.g., linear/logistic regression, decision trees) and frameworks like scikit-learn.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and SQL querying.

  • Understanding of data architecture and standards (a plus, not required).
