At DigitalOcean, Data Center Engineers play a crucial role in the success of our business.
Our Data Center team is responsible for building, maintaining, and scaling the physical infrastructure that powers the DigitalOcean cloud—past, present, and future.
From replacing a faulty drive to deploying an entire data center overseas, you’ll have a hands-on role in ensuring our infrastructure runs efficiently.

What You’ll Be Working On
Deploying, maintaining, and optimizing DigitalOcean’s data center infrastructure
Racking, stacking, and cabling servers, power distribution units (PDUs), and network switches
Installing and configuring servers, switches, routers, and storage hardware
Managing hardware lifecycle, including RMA processing, shipping/receiving, and inventory tracking and auditing
Coordinating and tracking remote work requests to ensure seamless infrastructure operations
Diagnosing and repairing hardware issues, performing upgrades, integrations, and rebuilds
Troubleshooting network connectivity, server hardware, and Linux OS-related issues
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve deployment efficiency, automation, and monitoring
What We’ll Expect From You
Hands-on experience with servers, networking hardware, cabling, and infrastructure components
Basic proficiency with Linux OS, including command-line operations and troubleshooting
Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug network, hardware, and OS issues efficiently
Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—with a collaborative, customer-focused mindset
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-availability environment and respond to incidents proactively
Comfort with participating in an on-call rotation to support 24/7 operations
Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive between locations as needed
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (10% - 15%)
Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
