Data Center Manager – ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED (Phoenix, AZ)

Department Description:


Oracle’s Cloud Data Center Operations team is building and supporting new Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment.

Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best-in-class compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever-expanding set of foundational cloud-based services.

Position Overview:


As an Oracle Manager, you will have an opportunity to develop skills related to DC Operations and develop strategic initiatives to guide program growth and continuous improvement.

You will oversee teams that will troubleshoot and solve the most complex infrastructure issues at a broad scope to include hardware, software, and overarching data center deployments and solutions.

You will create maintain and improve processes and documentation on technologies you support, understand all aspects of the equipment you support, know how to innovate, and make decisions on your own, take direction and feedback when it is given, pay attention to all details involved.

As well, contribute to establishing annual KPIs and goals for the staff and managing the employee lifecycle against that.

The OCI Manager will be expected to question current process in the quest of bringing a better product to our end users.

This will include developing standardization, innovate to simplify, increase efficiency while driving down cost.

Ensure that contractors and vendors are delivering quality services and that all SLAs are being met.

Execute large scale projects and embracing change.

A successful Manager will develop streamlined reporting to track KPIs and manage performance against those, showing year over year growth and improvement.

This will include effective incident management strategies to oversee problem ticket queues and building an organization of trust and collaboration not only within their own team but with partner teams as well.


Qualifications:


Must demonstrate strong foundational knowledge of most of following areas

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Systems administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding of Networking (DNS, TCP/IP)
  • Understanding of scripting (Java, Perl, Ruby, C#, and/or PHP)
  • Demonstrated examples of process improvement execution
  • Demonstrated examples of a drive to dig into the details of a system or process to solve customer problems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill
  • Ability to take direction, understand SOPs/ MOPs, and escalate appropriately
  • Open to provide after-hours support as needed
  • Experience supporting large, Enterprise customers in an Operations environment
  • Candidate Profile:


    Knowledge of data center ecosystem (cooling, electrical, networking, and structured cabling)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 6-10 years relevant experience in a Support / Operations role preferred.
  • 2+ year relevant experience in lead or management roles

  • Linux/Unix Administration:
  • Boot Process
  • GRUB/LILO
  • File Systems
  • Network device and protocol configuration
  • Directory Structure

  • Some experience with Perl, Python, Bash or Java
  • Core OS Services: ssh, telnet, ftp, nfs, dns, dhcp, samba, ldap, cvs
  • Previous experience working in a Data Center environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment).
  • Networking Protocols (OSI Model)
  • Copper/Fiber Optic Testing/Cabling Standards
  • Project management, organization and problem-solving skills with a drive for results.
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
  • The position has a physical component requiring the ability to lift up to 75 lbs and may require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations.

    US: Hiring Range in USD from: $80,000 to $199,500 per annum.

    May be eligible for bonus and equity.

    Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
