This is a remote position.
As a Remote Data Processing & Information Clerk for Hobie, you will support the companys operations by processing and managing data, organising information flows, and ensuring that digital records accurately reflect real-world business activities.
Hobie has a heritage of innovation in watercraft design and global distribution, making data accuracy across inventory, orders, customer interactions, and vendor channels critical to its success.
Key Responsibilities Collect and process incoming information from multiple sources: sales orders, shipments, returns, vendor invoices, inventory logs, and customer data.
Ensure accurate entry and maintenance of processed data in company systems (databases, spreadsheets, ERP modules) including status updates, coding, classification and archival of records.
Review and validate source documents for completeness, accuracy and conformity to standards; follow up with respective teams to correct issues or obtain missing details.
Reconcile data flows across systemse.g., matching received shipments with inventory records, ensuring customer orders are entered correctly, aligning vendor invoices with purchase orders.
Generate regular reports (daily, weekly, monthly) summarising information such as processing volume, error rates, pending entries, inventory discrepancies, vendor lead times and other key metrics.
Assist in organising, maintaining and improving information-management systemsfor example: folder structures, naming conventions, data-cleaning routines, digital archives, and ensuring traceability of records.
Collaborate virtually with cross-functional teams (sales, logistics, manufacturing/distribution, vendor relations) to validate information, respond to queries, escalate issues and ensure data supports business decisions.
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate repetitive tasks (macros, templates), reduce manual entry load and enhance data accuracy and speed of processing.
Uphold confidentiality, data security and remote-work best practices: ensure customer/vendor information and operational data are handled securely, backups are maintained, and access protocols are followed.
Requirements High School diploma or equivalent required; associate degree, certification or coursework in data management, business administration, information systems or related field preferred.
Experience (entry-level acceptable if backed by strong skills) in data processing, data entry, clerical or administrative support roles; experience in remote working environment is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when working with large volumes of data and document sources.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (e.g., addressing data in tables, filters, basic formula usage); familiarity with databases or ERP systems an advantage.
Good organisational and time-management skills: able to prioritise multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work independently in a remote environment.
Effective communication skills: able to liaise via email/chat/video with remote teams, ask clarifying questions, follow up on missing information and provide status updates.
Reliable home-office setup: stable internet connection, quiet workspace, self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
