Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Data Visualization Engineer with an active Secret clearance to design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and data visualizations that support mission-critical decision-making.

The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in modern BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) and have a strong grasp of data modeling, storytelling, and presenting complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

This role will work closely with analysts, data engineers, and leadership to transform raw data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik
  • Gather requirements and work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and data goals
  • Clean, transform, and model data for visualization and decision-making
  • Optimize dashboard performance and ensure data integrity and accuracy
  • Translate complex datasets into clear, compelling, and actionable visual stories
  • Support data governance, metadata management, and documentation efforts
  • Ensure compliance with federal data policies, classification, and security protocols
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and security personnel to ensure secure and scalable data solutions
  • Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Secret clearance (must be verifiable at time of hire)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field
  • 3–5+ years of professional experience in data visualization or BI development
  •  Proficiency with one or more visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, D3.js)
  •  Strong SQL skills and understanding of data querying and transformation
  •  Experience working with relational databases, APIs, or data warehouses
  • Understanding of data security and access controls in secure environments
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present data to non-technical audiences
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen 
  • If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered 
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting DoD, federal government, or intelligence community projects
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Knowledge of data storytelling, UI/UX best practices, or human-centered design
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Tableau Desktop Specialist, Security+, or Certified Analytics Professional (CAP)
