Job description


To acquire the advantage, Zolon Tech is seeking a Data Warehousing Programmer.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Spearheaded migration of WHD legacy data from DB2 and Oracle into Snowflake using AWS DMS, designing scalable and secure ETL pipelines for the DOL's Data Analytics Capability (DAC) platform.
Built and maintained staging areas, data marts, and secure cloud data lakes using Amazon S3, implementing automated data transfer scripts and orchestration frameworks.
Designed and optimized Snowflake data models, partitioning strategies, Streams, Tasks, and Snowpipes for near-real-time data ingestion and automated batch workflows.
Administered cloud-based Snowflake environments, ensuring high availability, performance tuning, schema evolution, query optimization, and capacity planning.
Supported transition and modernization efforts in compliance with WHD's PWS deliverables, including system documentation, testing, deployment, and operational continuity.
Participated in requirements gathering with WHD and OCIO stakeholders, contributing to architectural planning, documentation, and cloud readiness assessments.
Developed low-level design specifications and collaborated on solution prototypes to validate architecture decisions and support Agile release trains.
Integrated event-driven architectures using AWS Lambda and EventBridge for ETL automation, leveraging SNS/SES for notifications and error handling workflows.
Ensured adherence to federal cybersecurity and privacy compliance frameworks, including data encryption, access control, and secure development practices in line with NIST 800-53.
Facilitated knowledge transfer, created SOPs and support documentation, and participated in Go-Live readiness and post-deployment stabilization for WHD data platforms.
Designed and managed Snowflake Tasks, Streams, Stored Procedures, Views, and Materialized Views to support orchestrated near-real-time data processing workflows.
Automated ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowflake Stored Procedures in JavaScript and SQL, and monitored pipeline performance and stability across environments.
Integrated AWS S3 with Snowflake using external stages and Snowpipe to enable continuous and secure data ingestion.
Led JAD/RAD sessions to gather business requirements and translated them into actionable data warehouse deliverables and technical documentation.

Analyzed complex business needs and provided end-to-end support from design through post-deployment stabilization.

Qualifications:
14+ years of experience in enterprise data warehousing, integration, and administration, including 7+ years of onsite experience in the
Extensive hands-on experience with cloud-based data warehousing using Snowflake and AWS (S3, EC2, Lambda, DMS).
Proven expertise in data migration from legacy systems (DB2, Oracle) to cloud platforms aligned with federal modernization initiatives.
Strong understanding of ETL/CDC frameworks, metadata management, schema design, and workload optimization in Snowflake.
Familiarity with federal IT compliance and governance, including FISMA, NIST 800-53, and HSPD-12 standards.
Demonstrated success in leading Agile and Waterfall-based SDLC environments, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
Experienced in performance tuning, query optimization, capacity planning, and system monitoring in cloud and hybrid architectures.
Performed data profiling, mapping, and transformation for raw data ingestion and business-facing data marts to support cross-domain analytics.
Developed validation queries and automated checks to address data quality issues, improving data trust and governance adherence.
Supported data discovery, lineage tracing, and documentation efforts to enhance data transparency and usability across WHD platforms.
Experienced in end-to-end data warehousing practices, including requirement analysis, data modeling, development, and support.
Strong analytical skills and a track record of resolving complex data quality and integration issues.
Knowledgeable in data governance, metadata management, and cost optimization in Snowflake environments.
Hands-on experience with relational databases like SQL Server and Oracle.
Skilled in data lineage, cataloging tools, and Snowflake monitoring techniques.
Familiar with version control systems (, Git) and CI/CD pipelines for data engineering.
