30 Month Contract, Full-time



Selected candidates are expected to work in the Albany NY Office, 2 days per week



 



Day-to-day tasks:



• Responsible for analysis, support, development, reengineering, and maintenance of all agency databases.

Support is required for specific database management systems (DB2 LUW, DB2 LUW, IDMS, SQL Server), and using specific technologies (Unix scripting, DBI performance tools, ERwin, z/OS, AIX, IBM Data Replication).



• Provide performance analysis and tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, benchmark design.



• Develop a streamlined process for database migrations.



• Design methodologies for data synchronization from operational data stores to a data warehouse across multiple database platforms and varied DBMS'.



• Planning, and interfacing between application databases, data warehouse, Cognos, Identity Insight, and DataStage.



• Act as liaison between Data Management, business customers, and application development staff to ensure that recommended performance considerations are included in reviews, designs, development, and implementation of applications.



• Create cost effective and timely solutions to strategic business requirements utilizing database structures, application methodologies, and coding techniques.



 



Database Architect



Determines database structural requirements by analyzing client operations, applications, and programming; reviews objectives with clients; evaluates current systems; provides database support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problems.



Expert




  • 84+ Months: Candidate is able to provide guidance to large teams and/or has extensive industry experience and is considered at the top of his/her field.


  • 84 months experience in designing DB2 LUW database structures, stored procedures, and sequence objects for enterprise systems.


  • 84 months experience with application and SQL performance analysis and tuning

  • 84 months experience with physical database design

  • 84 months experience writing AIX shell scripts to automate redundant tasks

  • 84 months experience performing database upgrades for DB2 LUW

  • 84 months experience creating database standards and procedures

  • 84 months experience installing, configuring and developing real time replication utilizing IBM Data Replication/Change Data Capture (CDC)
