DESCRIPTION

The Database Architect provides database support in the form of user account creation and access, table and procedure design, backup and recovery functions, database performance tuning, and server capacity planning and maintenance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Possess a minimum of eleven (11) years using Oracle or SybaseAble to perform configuration and maintenance of operational databases on Solaris platformAble to perform disaster recovery planning, capacity planning, and performance tuning of database and application componentsPossess a minimum of one (1) year experience with the integration of GIS product suites from ESRI and ERDAS with Oracle or Sybase Experience with implementation of database redundancy schemes such as replication, multi-threaded server, and parallel serverPossess a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in web enabling technologies, specifically database retrievalExperience integrating heterogeneous UNIX/LINUX platforms insuring network services and security functions perform uniformly from the user's perspectiveExperience leading integration effortsExperience with and able to design, configure and troubleshoot of both server and client database components running Solaris to user, COTs and GOTs access with special attention to security implications of resource sharing and restriction enablingAble to perform performance tuning of system CPU, memory, and disk i/o utilization on a Solaris platformAble to troubleshoot disk management issues using UFS, XFS, VxFS file systems on diverse vendor storage hardware to include SUN Microsystems, and SGIKnowledge of RAID technology and its performance implicationsAble to detail tasks to System Administrators, drive implementation projects to completion tasking multiple resources to include the program staff, vendor, and customer personnel as necessaryExperience with Sybase or Oracle COTS product installation, configuration and tuningKnowledge of ESRI, ERDAS, STK, and Autometric product offeringsExperience with GOTS products in the IC environment needed to support existing customer missions on a daily basisPossess a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related fieldQVine Corporation is an EOE of Minorities/Females/Vets/Disability
