Digital Media Platform Focused on Education Innovation - Hybrid (1 to 2 days per week onsite), Greater Washington, DC Area
Full Time / Direct Hire

The Hired Guns are seeking a Design Director, Graphics, Video, and Photography to develop and produce exceptional data-forward visual journalism at a thriving digital news magazine for K-12 educators.

This is a hybrid role requiring 1 to 2 days per week onsite in the greater DC area.


Salary range: $140,000 to $160,000 per year

Are you an experienced editor with a talent for turning data and news into gorgeously interactive, visually compelling stories?

A digital publication serving professionals in the K-12 education sector is hiring an experienced Design Director, Graphics, Video, and Photography.

With an audience of teachers, principals, superintendents, and administrators, this outlet serves the news, opinions, spotlights, and features that educators and administrators care about most.


In this role, you will lead the visual coverage of major national news developments in the education space (there’s a LOT of that!) as well as run the design strategy and visual approach for the organization’s suite of products.

You’ll come up with graphics, video, data visualization—your imagination’s the limit.

You’ll answer directly to the Editor in Chief, work in collaboration with editors and reporters—and lead a team of designers, photographers, and videographers.
