Employee will perform all operations required to support customer needs.

Must be able and willing to fill in and support any and all other class operations when a demand is needed.

Must have the willingness to learn new operations as needed.

Employees will be trained to set-up and operate die cast machinery to produce parts ranging in weight from five pounds to 30 pounds.

Operators perform machine set-ups which include removing and installing dies and related machine parts.

:

  • Must be able to do the following:
  • Start and stop DCM (know how DCM works)
  • Add hydraulic fluid.
  • Put in and pull out dies, as well as clean dies.

    Do die set A – Z.
  • Change tip – know tip size/sleeve size – push rod or bumper.
  • Change vacuum valve and clean filters.
  • Add or decrease metal in furnace.
  • Move robot from various locations, open and close robot grippers.
  • Read and understand set-up sheet and control plan.
  • Perform any task within means, to keep production and operations moving.
  • Terminology to know:
  • Know your surroundings… know where everything is located (furnace, oil heater, vacuum unit, etc.)
  • Operate die cast equipment to produce the target quantity of good quality parts to meet production standards.

  • Visual inspection of parts during production cycle of equipment
  • Perform die changes and set-ups as required by schedule.

    May require use of manual chain hoists requiring pull force of over 100 lbs.
  • Reach and lift light to medium weight parts – numerous repetitions per shift.
  • Stand and operate machine continuously—a minimum of 8 hours per shift.
  • Exposed to a harsh operating environment which includes: heat of up to 125 degrees, steam vapors, open flames, and smoke from burning materials while operating from an elevated platform.
  • Operates equipment in a safe manner to protect self and others from injuries, which includes working with the extremely hot metal up to 1350 degrees.

    Report unsafe conditions.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Capable and willing to work overtime.
  • Good attendance record is required.
  • Participate in training to upgrade skills as necessary, to move forward with changing technology.
  • Required to complete paperwork associated with the job (timecard, machine cards, production records, charts, preventive maintenance records, etc.).
  • Perform other associated duties, functions or work as may be needed or assigned by supervisor to continue the productive operation of the company.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Assist in the maintenance of all equipment as necessary.
  • Work in safe manner to prevent injury to self or other employees.

    Report any unsafe conditions.
  • Must follow all safety rules and policies as set forth by OSHA guidelines and Pace Industries policies and procedures as outlined in the employee manual.
  • MUST BE WILLING TO BE TRAINED.
  • Refusal of training can and may result in disqualification and/or disciplinary action.
  • Upon completion of a six (6) month training period, a Die Cast Operator (3) will be tested to assure candidate is able to move to the next classification.
  • Must be able to read and understand written directives.

    The predominate forms of instructions are visual and verbal.

    Die Cast operators must be capable of translating verbal orders into actions.

    Ability to read, write and use math required.

    This is a physically demanding position requiring moderately heavy lifting, dexterity, and good mechanical skills.

    Able to lift 50 lbs.

    Must have progressed through Die Cast progression.

    Forklift certification required.
