Digital Media Researcher Job at Longwell Partners in Washington

Job description

Longwell Partners is a full-service, pro-democracy communications firm based in Washington, DC.

We specialize in high-profile political projects—including The Bulwark, Home of the Brave, and Republican Accountability—and we’re looking for an energetic Digital Media Researcher to support our social media and political communications teams as we prepare for the 2026 midterms.

If you live and breathe political news, thrive in a fast-paced environment, have sharp political instincts, and want to help shape impactful messaging and strategy, we’d love to hear from you!

About the Role:

As our Digital Media Researcher, you will be on the front line of the news cycle.

Your job is to track relevant political news and social media in real time and identify the moments that matter most for our mission and rapidly strategize how we will respond.

You will look for opportunities to add our voice into national conversations and conduct media and opposition research to do so effectively and persuasively.

Sometimes that means exposing rank hypocrisy or highlighting extremism.

Other times it means amplifying our messaging about the stakes for people, and for American democracy.

Just as important, you will help us proactively drive conversations by surfacing underreported or overlooked stories that deserve greater attention and that can shape the broader debate and keep America’s authoritarian movement on its back foot.

This role is not JUST about research.

You will help turn what you find into impactful social media content, working closely with our creative and political communications teams to craft posts, clips, produced ads, and media narratives that cut through the noise and reach broad audiences.

You will be expected to take ownership of your work, troubleshoot quickly, and thrive in an environment where we push hard to meet the moment.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Monitor political news and social media constantly to identify opportunities for rapid response.
  • Conduct media/opposition research to uncover past statements and video clips which expose political actors’ extremism, hypocrisy, and lack of ethics.
  • Identify and curate timely stories and video content that can be turned into compelling social media content and/or produced ads aligned with our pro-democracy mission, ensuring accuracy and context.
  • Collaborate with creative and communications teams to transform raw news into powerful, shareable content that aligns with project goals.
  • Contribute to social media strategy by drafting copy, adapting clips, and posting across platforms.

Track the performance of social media posts and provide feedback on what resonates and how to optimize engagement.

What We’re Looking For:

  • You are passionate about politics and our pro-democracy mission, and you follow the news obsessively.

You spot opportunities and breaking stories before others do.
  • You have sharp political instincts and a familiarity with policy, political messaging, and elections.
  • Proven experience sourcing or creating content for social media or political ads, ideally with strong familiarity in handling video and multimedia/open source research.
  • Ability to juggle multiple news streams, content sources, and rapid-response opportunities simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (X/Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook) and emerging trends.
  • Strong writing skills, capable of drafting sharp, engaging copy for social posts.
  • You take responsibility for your work, are proactive in solving problems, and hold yourself to a high standard.
  • You’re able to be in the office (downtown DC) five days a week (this is not a remote or hybrid opportunity)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in political research, journalism, or social media roles

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
  • 100% covered medical insurance
  • Metro-accessible, downtown DC location
  • Opportunities to learn, innovate, and advance within our firm
  • We are a mission-driven, high-performance team that values hard work, initiative, and the contributions of every member

How to Apply:

Please send your resume and a brief cover letter to jobs@longwellpartners.com.

In your cover letter, please tell us why you’re interested in Longwell Partners and how your experience makes you a strong fit for this role.
