This position is responsible for assisting with the production of compelling member and issue focused stories for online platforms, paid advertising and live screening.
Responsible for juggling tight-turnaround videos with longer-term projects, working on multiple video projects simultaneously.
Candidate must demonstrate experience in all aspects of digital video production including editing, camera operation, audio recording, and producing.
Duties
- Capture high-quality short-form videos optimized for social media platforms.
- Assist with the creation of video content that communicates key issues affecting AFSCME members and working families.
- Serves as part of communications team that promotes the stories of AFSCME and its members.
- Assist in maintaining video production studio and equipment.
- Assists in all video asset management and archiving activities.
- Assists with work between departments and with outside vendors to produce videos.
Includes but not limited to scheduling, location scouting and pre-interviewing. - Responsible for editing video to educate and impact key issues affecting AFSCME members and working families.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental activities.
Requirements
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with course work in film or electronic media production, journalism, communications and a minimum of two (2) years of experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Skills:
- Comfort with Adobe Creative Cloud - Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, Audition and Media Encoder.
- Expertise in social media video trends and social-first video production.
- Comfort with producing and filming on-location in dynamic conditions.
- Experience using professional digital HD video equipment and accessories and experience shooting with multiple cameras and formats.
- Comfort with creating and editing in traditional and non-traditional video formats.
- Ability to travel for AFSCME business, including political and organizing campaigns required.
Travel/Work Hours:
- Ability to travel and work extended work including weekends required.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
