Dimensional Inspector 2nd shift

Job description

Kelly Engineering is hiring an experienced Dimensional Quality Inspector for a 6-month+ contract opportunity on 2 nd shift, with our Downers Grove based client.



You will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet AS9100 quality standards and specifications.

Your expertise in GD&T and precision measurement tools like calipers will be crucial.

Responsibilities:

+ Conduct detailed inspections of components and assemblies using GD&T principles to ensure compliance with all engineering drawings and specifications.
+ Utilize calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to measure parts for conformance to specifications.
+ Interpret technical documents, including blueprints, and schematic drawings to identify measurement requirements.
+ Record inspection results, complete inspection reports, and maintain records of quality checks.
+ Work collaboratively with the production team to identify and resolve quality issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
+ Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending changes to improve the manufacturing and quality processes.
+ Participate in the calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment.

Qualifications:

+ High School Diploma or equivalent; further certification or education in mechanical or quality engineering is a plus.
+ Strong experience with reading close tolerance blueprints, GD&T, including a thorough understanding of symbols, terms, and concepts.
+ Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, and gages is required.

Any CMM operation (a plus)
+ At least 2 years of experience with dimensional quality inspection role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace, automotive, medical device, or other industry with strict documentation standards.
+ Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
