Job description

Summary

The Director for the Mussafer Internship Initiative will lead the strategic development and implementation of high-impact, real-world learning opportunities for undergraduates at Newcomb-Tulane College.

This position will be responsible for expanding access to Tulane-facilitated internships and related applied learning programs—such as project-based experiences, community-engaged work, and short-term immersions—that support students’ academic, professional, and personal growth.

This new role will provide the strategic direction, the creation, and management of a new Tulane facilitated and applied learning initiative.

This role will also develop key employer and alumni partnerships, manage operational and assessment strategies, and collaborate across campus to align internships and applied learning experiences with institutional priorities and student needs.Reporting to the Assistant Dean & Executive Director of NTC Career Services, this role will serve as a member of the NTC Career Services Leadership team that includes the Assistant Dean & Executive Director, the Director of Career Education & Professional Development, and the Director of Employer Connections.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.• Strong leadership and management skills.• Excellent organizational skills required, including the ability to manage multiple demands and multiple projects.• Ability to travel and attend events on weekends and evenings as needed.• Ability to work independently and within a team structure.• Ability and commitment to serve as a positive, contributing member of Newcomb-Tulane College (NTC) and NTC Career Services• Knowledge of various software programs, such as MS Word and Excel, and ease of working with digital platforms.• Commitment to the values of Tulane and Newcomb-Tulane College.

Required Education and/or Experience • Bachelor’s Degree required• Minimum of 5 years career-related experience, volunteer management, business development, program creation and management, or relationship management experience.

Preferred Qualifications • Master’s Degree preferred with 7 years of experience with a focus on sales, program management, business development, data, recruiting, or within fields applicable to a Higher Education environment.• Strategic planning and implementation; scaling services and infrastructure to increase career opportunities.• Demonstrated leadership skills within a high-achieving team setting.• Demonstrated proficiency in designing and executing large-scale initiatives.• Exceptional communication (written, oral, presentation).

Compensation Information This position is classified as exempt, salaried and is assigned to pay grade 26.
