Job Overview

The Development & Communications Director is a dynamic, creative, and driven individual in a leadership position, with a direct reporting relationship to the Head of School.

The Director will manage and enhance existing development and communication plans needed to strengthen the organizations overall fundraising capacity and sustainability.

The role provides strategic leadership to diversify, strengthen and grow Denver Academy of Torahs base of support with a focus on major gift donors, new donor relations programs, and parent participation.

This role will own the strategy for a variety of fundraising and development vehicles, including but not limited to: special events, annual campaigns, e-mail or mail communications, planned giving, major gifts, grants, peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns, and capital campaigns.
The ideal candidate will be committed to DATs mission and organizational values, possess superior interpersonal and communication skills, bring experience in driving and sustaining growth in contributed revenue, and have the ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including Board members and philanthropists within a small, entrepreneurial environment.

The Director will have the ability to work independently on projects from conception to completion, and must be able to handle confidential matters with discretion.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and execute a comprehensive, diversified, and sustainable business plan for development activities with short- and long-term goals and strategies.
Partner with the Head of School and Board of Trustees to meet the goals of the organization.
Serve as Advancement liaison to the Board.
Serve as the primary staff liaison for the Development Committee.
Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward individuals to meet fundraising goals, improve engagement, and increase overall lifetime giving.
Analyze and develop effective development reports, mechanisms, and systems including supervising accurate data entry and record keeping to track, monitor, and evaluate all phases of the fund development plan.
Work with the HoS and school business director to prepare and manage relevant areas of the budget and ensure compliance with funding source guidelines and deadlines.
Serve as a creative thought leader on how to advance DATs relevance to and engagement of new donors including the parent body, alumni and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

A Bachelors degree required; additional certifications are a plus.
5-10 years of experience in development and communications, preferably within a small non-profit organization.
Experience and interest in internal and external communications, partnership development, and fundraising techniques.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, CRM software including Kindful, Google Suite and Social Media platforms.
Available on weekends and for school fundraising events outside normal business hours.
Understand and demonstrate DATs mission and values.

Hours / Compensation

This is a three-quarters position (.75 FTE) offering flexibility with a blended onsite and work-from-home model.

Salary range $80,000 - $90,000 annual salary and competitive benefits.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
