Summary

:

The Draft Design Engineer at Pacific Seafood is responsible for creating, developing, and refining technical drawings and design layouts to support manufacturing and operational needs.

This role ensures accuracy and efficiency in the design process by producing detailed blueprints, schematics, and 3D models that meet engineering standards and regulatory requirements.

The Draft Design Engineer collaborates closely with operations, engineering, and production teams to translate concepts into practical designs, streamline workflows, and support the successful execution of projects.

By driving innovative design solutions, this position contributes to the company’s operational excellence, product quality, and long-term growth.

Must have: Design implementation of facilities drawn to scale.



Key Responsibilities:

1.

Design Management:
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings, layouts, and schematics for food processing equipment and facility projects.

    Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Modify and update existing drawings to reflect process improvements or equipment changes.

  • Ensure designs comply with FDA, USDA, HACCP, and other relevant food industry regulations.

  • Assist with the development of standard operating procedures and technical documentation for equipment installation and maintenance.

  • Work closely with vendors and contractors to communicate technical specifications and review equipment design proposals.

  • Perform basic calculations and evaluations to support design feasibility, including load, flow, and material usage considerations.

  • Calculate utility balance and need (water, air, etc.)
  • Calculate product flow and load calculation in food production.
  • 2.

    Project Management and Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to ensure designs meet operational, safety, and sanitation standards.

  • Support new products or process implementation by designing equipment modifications and line layouts.

  • Conduct site measurements and generate accurate as-built drawings for reference and project planning.

  • Participate in project meetings to provide technical input and ensure alignment with manufacturing goals.

  • What You Bring to Pacific Seafood: 

    Required:

  • MUST HAVE: Scalable blueprint design of facilities with machine buildout
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 2+ years of experience in drafting or design engineering, preferably in food manufacturing or a regulated production environment.

  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).

  • Knowledge of food processing equipment, sanitary design principles, and facility layout best practices.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements including FDA, USDA, HACCP, and GMP standards.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple design projects with competing deadlines.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and fabrication methods.

  • Ability to perform site measurements and translate them into accurate technical drawings.

  • Experience in purchasing technical equipment.

  • Salary Range: $ 90,879 to $120,500 based on experience
