Position Information Position Title Driver (Short-Term Hourly/Temporary Position) Continuous Pool Recruitment Start Date 01/16/2025 Recruitment End Date Open Until Filled Yes First Consideration Date Salary Range Pay Rate $30.00/hour FLSA Status Non-Exempt Benefits This position is not eligible to receive the comprehensive program of fringe benefits (medical, dental, vision, and life), holiday pay, or vacation pay.

At the beginning of each academic year, all professional expert, short-term, substitute, and student employees with an assignment which will exceed 30 days will be provided with five days (40 hours) of paid sick leave.

This paid sick leave is available to be used for an illness of the professional expert, short-term, substitute, and student employee or his/her family member and/or for leave due to domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking.

A professional expert, short-term, substitute, and student employee shall be entitled to use such sick leave as of the 90th day of employment.

The five days (40 hours) of paid sick leave do not accumulate.

General Description/Summary This is a short-term hourly, temporary POOL position.

Application materials for this position are accepted on an on-going basis.

As openings for these positions become available, candidates may be selected from this pool of applicants.

Minimum Qualifications/Education and Experience MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Any combination equivalent to: graduation from a high school or equivalent,

  • Experience driving students, staff, faculty, or the public.

  • Four (4) years experience as a professional driver
  • Preferred Qualifications PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid CDL with Class B preferred
  • Licenses and Certificates LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: (Must be provided upon hire)
  • Valid California Class B driver license

  • Medical examination for professional drivers

  • Drug & Alcohol testing for professional drivers
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Arrive at destination on schedule

  • Transport college students, staff, faculty, and the public to various events and activities

  • Ensure the safety of all passengers when entering and leaving the vehicle

  • Obey all traffic laws to ensure passengers arrive to their destination safely

  • Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the bus/vehicle is clean, fueled, and in good working order

  • Operates large passenger vans and buses in a legal and safe manner, free of impairment due to drug and/or alcohol use

  • Keep mileage records and repair records up-to-date

  • Ability to work variable schedule to accommodate day, evening, weekend, and holiday events and/or activities

  • Interact with clients professionally at all times

  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of California Department of Transportation regulations

  • Requires sufficient human relations skill to exercise courtesy

  • Federal Motor Carrier Safety, Regulations Safety, and Operating Standards
  • Physical Abilities PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
  • Dexterity of hands and finger to operate equipment

  • Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally

  • Sitting for extended prolonged periods of time

  • Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching

  • Use of a step stool
