KBR is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Calibration) with strong RF and microwave experience to support U.S. Navy aircraft test bench systems at NAS North Island in San Diego, California.

This position involves hands-on engineering in high-frequency and microwave domains, ensuring the precision and reliability of advanced test and measurement systems.

The successful candidate will contribute to calibration processes that directly impact mission readiness and system performance for naval aviation programs.

Roles and Responsibilities

+ Support the calibration, maintenance, and performance verification of high-frequency and microwave test benches used in U.S. Navy aircraft systems.

+ Perform detailed RF and microwave measurements, analyses, and system evaluations to ensure compliance with engineering and calibration standards.

+ Develop and update calibration procedures, test plans, and engineering documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical reports.

+ Apply engineering principles to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex calibration and measurement issues.

+ Ensure adherence to metrology principles, including traceability, uncertainty analysis, and calibration standard integrity.

+ Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve calibration methodologies and enhance test system accuracy and reliability.

+ Provide technical input for the design and implementation of electrical and electronic system enhancements.

+ Maintain documentation to support audits, certifications, and quality management requirements.

+ Support project planning, scheduling, and coordination activities for calibration projects.

Basic Qualifications

+ Clearance & Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited US institution.



+ Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant electrical engineering experience, including work with RF and/or microwave systems, electrical calibration, RF test equipment, and/or high-frequency measurement systems.


Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience working within government or defense industry calibration environments.

+ Practical experience in metrology and calibration processes, including traceability and uncertainty budgets.

+ Familiarity with test uncertainty ratio (TUR), false acceptance probability (FAP), and intrinsic calibration standards.

+ Broad understanding of calibration methods and standards across multiple electrical domains.

+ Leadership experience on small projects or functional teams, with a focus on mentoring junior engineers.


Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week

Basic Compensation: $99,000 - $148,000.

The salary range posted is based on the national average.

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation.

Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
