Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct electrical engineering based field investigations and analyze fires/failures/accidents involving all types of electrical equipment and wiring systems
  • Perform electrical evaluations of failed and damaged components in commercial, manufacturing, and residential facilities to determine the root cause of the failure including lightning damage, electrocutions, electrically related fires, appliance and consumer product failure evaluation, commercial equipment failures and damage evaluation of other power or electrical systems.
  • Apply electrical engineering principles in accordance with industry standards to investigation analysis
  • Conduct unbiased field and lab investigations for various types of clients
  • Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
  • Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms both verbally and in writing
  • Support conclusions by appropriate testimony in legal proceedings
  • Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required, master's degree preferred- not required
  • Must have P.E. registration through testing
  • Seven (7) years of engineering experience
  • Background in power systems, controls, and NEC knowledge helpful
  • Interest in manufacturing failures and fire-related investigations
  • Excellent oral and writing skills
  • Public speaking experience a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Physical Requirements:

  • 25% travel
  • Ability to lift 80 lbs.
  • Ability to remove large and or heavy artifacts from fire scenes
  • Ability to carry equipment (shovels, camera, evidence case, etc.) up flights of stairs
  • Ability to shovel out fires and lift fire debris in conjunction with investigations, for up to 3 to 4 hours at a time
  • Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and structures and climb ladders
  • Ability to drive to site locations and fly on airplanes
