Electrical Engineer: Prototype Assembly Job Opening In Redmond – Now Hiring Meta


Job description

**Summary:**
The Build Manager - Electrical role at Meta Reality Labs helps bring new prototype hardware to life through internal, small-scale device builds within internal labs.

This role is responsible for taking a design from partner hardware teams and turning it into reality.

This position provides design feedback that aims to improve manufacturability, creates a detailed process flow for assembly and validation, and troubleshoots issues as they arise during the build.

The team this role will be joining supports many of Meta’s current and future hardware products, presenting wide-ranging challenges and opportunities for growth.We are looking for an experienced electrical engineer who has successfully led electronics projects through the development process, drawing on their technical background to work collaboratively with Partner Teams and propose solutions that optimize for cost, speed, or quality, and with a proven record of quality output, process development, and collaboration.

They are detail-orientated with robust communication skills and proven experience working in a highly visible and hands-on problem-solving environment.

While they will have experience with the full product lifecycle cycle, they should be especially excited about the early prototyping phase.They will also have a proven experience communicating to all levels of an organization – from management and higher-level strategy planning to the technicians and leads on a manufacturing floor.

With broad product realization experience, they will be excited in one or more of the following topic areas: quality, test, operations, supply chain, project management, DFX, process development
**Required Skills:**
Electrical Engineer: Prototype Assembly Responsibilities:
1.

Translating a design (schematics, CAD, functional requirements) into an assembly process flow
2.

Partner with EE, PD and SW design teams to build the first article of a given prototype, including mechanical assembly and functional test procedure verification
3.

Generate detailed work/assembly/test instructions that inform the team’s contract labor force as they move through the assembly process, ensuring a process that is repeatable and aimed at realizing design intent
4.

Troubleshooting assembly issues as they arise and taking corrective action as appropriate in order to keep the build on schedule
5.

Communicating with designers responsible for a given prototype—both proactively in order to drive design improvements before the build, and reactively to solve issues slowing progress
6.

Support the day-to-day work of the technician workforce, helping them interpret work instructions, making calls on priorities in partnership with the team’s project managers and engineers, and spotting opportunities to improve the speed or quality of work

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field

5+ years of experience in a mix of product-focused electrical engineering and precision manufacturing/prototyping
9.

Experience with use of oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, or function generators, for board and system level validation and debugging experience
10.

Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, Altium or equivalent to review and understand schematics and locate components on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs)
11.

Experience with soldering.

Fine pitched devices, 0201 or 0402 components, Ball Grid Array/Chip Scale Package (BGA/CSP), rework power components
12.

Experience working with programming languages like Python or C/C++ and using Android Debug Bridge (ADB) commands
13.

Experience identifying operational and manufacturing technology risks, developing plans to mitigate and drive issues to closure, using data analysis tools where appropriate
14.

Experience explaining technical problems with data and analysis and providing feedback and solutions
15.

Experience coaching, mentoring, and training others
16.

Experience collaborating in a team environment with cross-functional teams such system engineering, architecture, product design, New Product Introduction (NPI) and research in fast-paced environments where deliverables may change or are not well defined

Background in Consumer Electronics and/or mass production environments
19.

10+ years of experience in a combination of electro-optical device engineering, precision manufacturing in a development environment, and building New Product Introduction manufacturing lines

Industry experience working closely with fabrication and assembly vendors to build complex/miniaturized board designs Printed Circuit Board/Flexible Printed Circuit/Rigid-Flex Printed Circuit (PCB/FPC/RFPC)
21.

Experience with system-level electrical design including circuit design, system bring-up, integration, and debug with complex integrated electromechanical assemblies
22.

Experience mentoring other engineers, and building an engineering or manufacturing team, with an understanding of interpersonal relationships and employee growth
23.

Proven experience leading and influencing across domains and steering technical decisions through verbal and written communication to peers and organizational leadership
