**This Opportunity - Electrical Engineering Intern (Power Generation) - Summer 2026**
Our POWER Team is seeking an electrical engineering student for a full time internship in the Generation Electrical Department over the Summer of 2026.
This opening is for ourOradell, NJ office.
Under the guidance of multiple experienced engineers, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of power generation design.
The successful candidate will learn how to perform engineering assignments by applying appropriate engineering principles, practices, and theories.This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.
WSP USA hosts hundreds of internships across the United States to gain hands-on, meaningful work experience to enhance their education and professional aptitude.
Our interns gain exposure to real projects while working side by side with senior staff.
Through our Developing Professionals Network, interns gain mentorship, networking opportunities and lifelong career connections.
This internship is anticipated to take place during the Summer 2026 semester.
The program is anticipated to take place from May 18, 2026 through August 7, 2026.
The individual start date is flexible.
During this time, POWER's Electrical Generation group will likely be working on projects like combined-cycle natural gas turbines or diesel reciprocating generators.
We do many other kinds of projects like hydro, geothermal, battery energy storage, and renewables; but these are more sporadic.
It is an exciting time to be working in power generation; demand for electricity is extremely high.
Current supply will not meet demand; the only solution is to build more generation.
We need more power!
**Your Impact**
+ Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
+ Learn basic principles of Power Generation Electrical Design.
+ Experience gained here will also apply to other industrial and power engineering settings.Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
+ Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
+ Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
+ Complete training on assigned tasks.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
+ Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.
**Who You Are**
**Required Qualifications**
+ Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering, or related, Undergraduate or Graduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
+ Must be 18 or older.
+ Demonstrated interest in consulting engineering, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
+ Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
+ Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
+ Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Successful completion of junior-level courses in power system analysis and/or power system protection
+ Prior internship and/or related engineering experience is a plus.
+ Familiarity with design, drafting or engineering software such as AUTOCAD, etc.
as well as Microsoft Excel is beneficial.
+ A Power EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certificate.

Compensation:
Expected Pay (all locations): $19.13 - $30.00 Per hour
