Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) &Major Range & Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Responsibilities Repair Electrical Equipment to put in operational condition.
Repair AC/DC motors to operational condition.
Repair electrical components in accordance with specifications in technical manuals to operational condition.
Conduct tests to diagnose malfunctions in electrical equipment and components.
Repair and test power generation equipment.
Solder terminals and wires to a terminal to connect to the part being repaired.
Build or rebuild wiring harnesses Use computer programs to review technical data, order parts, and track programs.
Interpret technical publications and electrical schematics to determine where the parts belong.
Isolate faults in electrical components and devices using drawings, schematics, manuals, etc.
Ensure electrical test equipment and instruments are utilized in accordance with current safety practice and procedures.
Diagnose problems to determine repairs for malfunctions in electrical components and devices.
Troubleshoot motor control centers.
Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required.
However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrical Equipment Repairer ~ without more than normal supervision.
To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: perform all normal tasks assigned that includes troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul a variety of complex electrical devices such as; automatic alternator synchronizing equipment, voltage regulating equipment, generators, actuators, switching and control panels, junction boxes, AC and DC motors, electrical harnesses, transformers, and power amplifiers.

Physical Effort: Incumbents regularly stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time.
Constant kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping and walking are required.
Works in tiring and uncomfortable positions, and in close quarters.
Frequently lift and move equipment, components, or material weighing up to 45 pounds.
Heavier items are lifted with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
Incumbent may climb in, on, and under vehicles and other large mechanized equipment.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside or outside in areas that may be hot, camp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted.
Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas.
May be subject to exposure of hazardous material.
May require wearing protective clothing such as hardhats, hard hats, gloves, masks, etc.
Steel toed shoes are always required.
Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Additional Information Additional information about Sierra Army Depot: With the exception of Fire and Police, employees work a 4 day-10 hour work week, Mon-Thursday 6:30am-5:00pm.
Sierra Army Depot is located in the town of Herlong, California.
This is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV; & 35 miles south of Susanville, CA.
The Depot has an Army Command Officer with a predominately civilian work force of approximately 1300 employees.
Child care facilities are available Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
