Honeybee Robotics is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer III to join our team.

In this role, you will develop embedded software for a remotely controlled rover.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead efforts in coding, testing and validation of motor control software
  • Manage software field deployments and provide support on-site and remotely to customers
  • Derive and own software system requirements and schedules
  • Evaluate and identify improvements to system design with a specific focus on robust autonomy
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineering managers, product management, and program management to drive new product development programs from concept to production
  • Provide hands-on support to multi-functional product development teams servicing markets, including space, defense, manufacturing, and other industries
  • Write requirements and specification documents
  • Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in software development for PC or embedded platforms
  • Proficient in developing bare metal applications using C/C++
  • Proficient in applying testing frameworks and conducting unit tests
  • Experience writing software to control BLDC motors
  • Experience using a field oriented control system
  • Experience crafting autonomous safety critical fault recovery code
  • Proven experience crafting reliable software architectures for critical systems
  • Adept with Git version control system
  • Understanding of digital communication protocols (Ethernet, USB, asynchronous serial, CAN, SPI, I2C)
  • Familiarity with automated testing methodologies and continuous integration practices
  • Familiar with reading circuit schematics and performing basic debugging tasks
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in operational control of a remotely controlled mission with large latencies
  • Background in space flight avionics application
  • Skilled in Python scripting
  • Background in developing software for vehicles
  • Experienced in working with a variety of sensors and camera systems
  • Proficiency in building maintainable and versatile multithreaded and multi-process applications in an RTOS environment
  • Experience with development using TI TMS 570
  • Compensation Range for:

    CA applicants is $148,014.00-$207,218.55

    and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification, Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
