Overview
Event Technician, Audio Visual (Part Time) – Hyatt Regency Crystal City.
A Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of basic / small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction.
This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director or Director, Event Technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Operation – Ensure a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section.
- Customer Service – Strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers; maintain a positive relationship with clients through effective communication; meet with guests on site to ensure needs are met and equipment works properly; monitor events and check in on customers throughout the day; understand and foster the hotel/client relationship.
- Technical Ability – Understand the technical aspects of the job and demonstrate basic operational ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with equipment and software issues; handle equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
- Systems Knowledge – Understand company processes, follow procedures, and complete systems entry and paperwork accurately; use equipment sheets to determine equipment scheduled for setup and strike; interact with staff and outside vendors; utilize floor up-selling techniques; work with clients to finalize invoices; complete order entries in Navigator, as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
Associate’s degree is preferred.

- External applicants must meet training and certification requirements within one year; view career path for specifics.
- 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience is preferred.
- 1 year of audio-visual experience or equivalent in an educational environment is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license is required for team members that may operate Company vehicles; additional DOT requirements may apply.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment
Hotel/convention center environment with variable conditions; exposure to high-end audio-visual equipment, electrical components, and heights via lifts and ladders.
Irregular hours, on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation
Hourly Pay Range: $18.11 - $22.18.
Compensation determined based on qualifications and location, with potential overtime, bonuses or incentives where applicable.
