We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Engineer - Hydro in our Merrill, Wisconsin, Necedah, Wisconsin, and Iron Mountain, Michigan locations.



This position is part of a job family (Engineer, Senior Engineer, and Principal Engineer) where experience will be the determining factor.

Job Summary

As a Hydro Engineer, the role works independently with limited direction and support.

In addition, they will provide subject matter expertise to field and staff personnel.


Job Responsibilities


+ Prepare complex engineering designs, construction and material specifications and project schedules, design and implementation of material and equipment evaluation methods.

+ Prepare feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses of proposed projects, and review of third party construction plans.

+ Lead complex Root Cause Analysis activities and perform peer checks on Root Cause Analyses.

+ Apply a wide variety of codes, standards and regulations and coach others on proper use.

+ Update drawings and other engineering documentation and maintain corporate records by filing in accordance with business unit guidelines.

+ Utilize performance monitoring tools and perform engineering analysis to develop recommendations to maintain and improve plant system and equipment performance, efficiency and reliability.

+ Participate in long-term budget process for capital projects.

Select alternatives for projects based on the results of technical, economic and regulatory analyses.

+ Prepare RFP's, coordinate the evaluation process and provide recommendation.

+ Perform contract administration and construction inspections for complex multidisciplinary projects.

+ Provide detailed interpretation of drawings, specification, conditions, requirements and agreements.

Communicate technical requirements to consultants and contractors.

+ Lead project teams on moderately complex assignments.

+ Leader in Dam Safety program for Hydro under the direction of the Chief Engineer.

+ Engagement with and direct support of Hydro Operations and Maintenance crews.



Minimum Qualifications


+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

+ 2+ years of relevant experience



Preferred Qualifications


+ Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering

+ Previous experience with dam safety monitoring and surveillance

+ Strong technical writing experience across a variety of audiences (FERC, Company leadership, and peer groups).

Pay Range Minimum: $76,932.70

Pay Range Maximum: $152,615.06



The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future.

The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.

At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
