Job description

 SUMMARY:

This is the second level of the Engineering classification with the Pike Engineering’s Professional Services team that serves the electric utility industry.

This position provides engineering and technical expertise to solve problems for electrical distribution systems operation and maintenance functions, under limited supervision of senior engineers and project managers.

The Professional Services team helps clients with electric system planning, grid analytics, renewable energy and battery storage integration, and grid modernization efforts, among other things.

Incumbents are expected to know or develop skills in electrical distribution system planning, battery energy storage, renewable generation systems and software packages including CYME, Synergi, Milsoft PSCAD and ETAP.

Incumbents should have an ability to quickly master technical engineering concepts and learn complex modeling software.

The incumbent will be involved in helping develop solutions and customer deliverables in the form of the technical reports and circuit models that help customers in the reliable and economic operation of, and modernization of, their electric distribution systems.

Incumbents should have the concepts and some working knowledge with industry trends including Distributed Energy Resources (DER) like solar power and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) as well as Smart Grid technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Under limited supervision in the area of power delivery and grid analysis, the incumbent will provide:

 Engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems.

 Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.

 Thorough, timely, and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.

 Continuous improvement of job-related engineering, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.

 Effective oral and written communication skills.

 Should be able to maintain electrical circuit models and data files.

 Support the company's goals and represent the company positively and professionally.

 Interact with customer’s internal engineers and technical personnel on a day-to-day basis.

 Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers.

 Monitor deliverables, schedules, and present solutions to the client.

 Perform otherduties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor’s degree from an EAC/ABET accredited Engineering Program OR an approved evaluation of non-ABET credentials by NCEES OR graduation from a Master’s or Doctoral Program in Engineering from an institution with EAC/ABET accredited Undergraduate Engineering Programs.

Experience

3-5 Year(s) Experience as an Engineer with the electrical industry in the field of power delivery.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: 


Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) license or Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.
