**SUMMARY**

Assist a variety of engineers (design, production, manufacturing, industrial, test, etc.) with multiple tasks involving the mechanical engineering (more specifically chassis integration) functions at McNeilus Truck Manufacturing.

 

**YOUR IMPACT**

+ Prepare vehicle component layouts using CAD software(SolidWorks) and online layout software tools (TruckScience)
+ Select parts or components for quality conscious design (i.e. weight, cost, reliability, and ease of manufacturing)
+ Follow project on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build and provide technical assistance.
+ Generate engineering calculations of weight distribution, stress analysis, performance estimations, etc.
+ Consult with suppliers, customers, partners, and internal departments to find solutions to problems.
+ Perform or assist in the testing of complete vehicles or vehicle components.
+ Support ECN’s (Engineering Change Notices) using the PDM (Product Data Management) system (SmarTeam)
+ Design, model, and test new mechanical systems that integrate with a vehicle.
+ Participate in design reviews with cross functional team members.
+ All other duties or projects as assigned.

***Job duties will vary depending on business unit and location of internship.**

_This internship is fulltime, 40 hours per week, during the summer of 2026._

 

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

+ Student working towards a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering field for entire duration of internship
+ Willing to travel or relocate to Dodge Center, MN for the Summer of 2026 (relocation assistance provided for those with a permanent address of greater than 50 miles from Dodge Center, MN)

 

**STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS**

+ Good oral and written communication skills.
+ Experience in extracurricular activities outside academic requirements.
+ Previous internship experience or work-related experience.
+ Experience using SolidWorks or a similar CAD system is a plus.
+ Previous experience or heightened interest in mechanical design.
+ Previous experience or heightened interest in heavy duty commercial truck design and/or chassis design.

**Pay Range:**

$18.00 - $37.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations.

Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
