**JOB SUMMARY**
Performs various Operational Planning studies, coordinates with internal and external entities including RTOs, develops operating plans and studies transmission outages to ensure reliable system operation for all ITC Operating Companies.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Performs various (near term, forward, next-day and real-time horizon) operational planning studies to ensure the reliability of the Bulk Electric System for planned and unplanned facility outages.
+ Analyzes transmission system voltage, thermal and power transfer performance to detect potential system operating limit and interconnected reliability operating limit encroachment.
+ Evaluates various transmission system conditions for congestion and develops mitigation strategies and operating guides to maintain operating performance within specified limits.
+ Evaluates proposed capital system upgrades and expansion projects for impact on reliability, operability, maintainability and expandability.
+ Coordinates with interconnected entities and reliability authorities on system operating issues and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Standards compliance requirements.
+ Supports development and maintenance of detailed network transmission models and external system models and equivalents.
+ Performs reliability assessments studies and develops various reports.
+ Develops presentations and presents system performance assessments and reliability assessments to both internal and external audiences.
+ Supports data submittals, regulatory filings and NERC compliance activities.
+ Conducts analysis on historical transmission outages to evaluate performance measures.
+ Represents ITC on various industry groups, committees and working groups.
**REQUIREMENTS**
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Power system coursework preferred or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
+ Minimum Work Experience Required
+ Engineer, Associate: No work experience required (entry level)
+ Engineer (Intermediate): Minimum of two (2) years of related experience
+ Engineer, Senior: Minimum of six (6) years of related experience.
+ Knowledge of Power transmission system operations, planning or design.
+ Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
+ Sound analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.
+ Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
+ Ability to work under minimal supervision in a team environment.
+ Ability to utilize various power system analysis software, such as PSS/E and TARA to perform load flow studies, short circuit and stability studies preferred.
+ Experience in utilizing Energy Management System (EMS) - Power Flow (PF), Contingency Analysis (CA) and State Estimator (SE) preferred.
