We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Facilities Project Engineer to lead the design oversight and coordination of facilities-related capital projects.
This role involves managing third-party engineering deliverables, ensuring adherence to corporate standards and regulatory codes, and collaborating closely with internal teams to ensure the successful execution of facility expansions and maintenance upgrades.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, project execution experience, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Lead the development of project scopes, schedules, capital cost estimates, execution strategies, and risk assessments for assigned facility infrastructure projects.
Ensure facility designs meet all applicable engineering codes, safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and corporate technical standards.
Oversee and manage third-party engineering firms, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of design packages.
Review and approve technical deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, technical reports, and material take-offs.
Collaborate with procurement teams to evaluate vendor bids, conduct technical bid assessments, and support the purchase of long-lead items (e.g., pumps, valves, skid packages).
Integrate lessons learned and best practices from previous projects into new designs.
Support construction teams during project execution by providing timely technical input, resolving field issues, and ensuring design intent is maintained.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and project team members.
Participate in or lead departmental initiatives, including process improvements, engineering standards updates, and system enhancements.
Ensure alignment of project scopes with internal stakeholders, regulatory requirements, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.
Coordinate with legal, operations, safety, and regulatory groups to ensure comprehensive project compliance.
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related discipline).
Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in engineering and capital project execution.
Demonstrated experience managing engineering design work from external contractors or consultants.
Strong knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, CSA, NEC).
Proficient in technical reviews of engineering documents and specifications.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain progress under tight deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
Professional Engineer (P.Eng or PE) designation.
Experience with midstream, industrial, or utility-scale facility design and construction.
Familiarity with procurement processes and vendor evaluation.
Ability to work independently while coordinating across multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge of construction practices and commissioning requirements.
Strong understanding of HSE practices in industrial settings.
Office-based position with periodic travel to project sites as required.
Occasional field visits may involve exposure to construction environments and require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
May involve extended hours to meet critical project deadlines.
